About Us
Established on November 27, 1981, by the Oncology Nursing Society, the ONS Foundation (originally named Oncology Nursing Foundation) is a national public, non-profit, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The ONS Foundation established its base of support primarily from corporations and individual members of the Oncology Nursing Society. Since 1982, the Foundation has distributed more than $19.2 million in research grants, research fellowships, academic scholarships, lectures, public education projects, career development awards, congress scholarships, Institutes of Learning, and oncology advanced practice nurse conference scholarships.
In January 1998, the Foundation began the quiet phase of its first capital campaign, “Leading the Transformation.” The public phase of the campaign was launched in the fall of that same year. This successful campaign raised more than $16 million and is being used to support the ONS Foundation Center for Leadership, Information and Research (CLIR).
