"In my opinion, oncology nursing is one of the highest professional callings among all nursing specialties. To achieve the best patient and family outcomes, professional oncology nursing practice mandates the development of personal leadership capability; the attainment of clinical excellence based on evidence-based practice; and the generation of new scientific knowledge. These pillars cannot be achieved without allocating resources and support to oncology nurses, leaders, scholars and researchers. It is a privilege to serve as a board trustee, to act as a responsible steward of the endowment, and to ensure that all nurses have access to the tools they need to complete their professional development journey. Available ONS Foundation support ranges from Congress scholarships to research grants and from continuing education funds to chapter grants.
