(July 17, 2023) PITTSBURGH, PA  - The Oncology Nursing Foundation is proud to welcome Angie Stengel, MS, CAE, as the new executive director. With more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit membership organizations, Stengel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Foundation.

Stengel recently served as the executive director of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and director of membership and leadership for the Oncology Nursing Society. Throughout her career, Stengel has focused on increasing organizational effectiveness and innovation and has worked with numerous organizations to achieve these goals.

Stengel holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in professional leadership (nonprofit management) from Carlow University. She is also a certified association executive through the American Society of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership.

"The Oncology Nursing Foundation supports cancer nursing excellence by supporting education, research, and leadership development and recognition," Stengel said. "I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees to ensure every oncology nurse recognizes how they benefit from the Foundation's efforts and how their patients and the general public can partner with us to advance cancer nursing excellence."

“I am pleased to welcome Angie to our leadership team, the Oncology Nursing Foundation, and back to the Oncology Nursing Society. She brings a wealth of knowledge about the cancer care environment and non-profit philanthropic organizations,” ONS Chief Executive Officer Brenda Nevidjon, MSN, RN, FAAN, said.

The Oncology Nursing Society created the Oncology Nursing Foundation in 1981 to accept charitable contributions to advance these important activities on behalf of oncology nursing. The mission of the Oncology Nursing Foundation is to support oncology nursing excellence. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and institutions, the Oncology Nursing Foundation has awarded more than $31 million in funding since its inception for oncology nursing education, research, and leadership development, giving nurses the opportunity to pursue excellence in delivering care to patients with cancer.
